Of particular relevance for both landlord and tenant alike are the different rights offered to tenants under Shorthold tenancies compared with Assured and other tenancy types. The book also gives sample cases of common problems encountered during the landlord / tenant relationship and gives a clear indication of each party’s legal positions. The authors do insist that, in the event of a tenancy problem, it is not a replacement for legal advice. Nevertheless it does give the reader a good grounding in how to prevent such problems from occurring. It also arms the reader with a good basic knowledge of their legal position. This could be of particular use when discussing tenancy problems with a member of the legal profession.
